History of CPC
The history of Connection Pointe Church is a testament to faith, perseverance, and community. Our journey began as a preaching point in the home of Elder Heron, later transitioning to our own home. On November 6, 2016, we officially launched as a daughter work at Kid’s Community College, holding our first services in one of their classrooms. After a few months, we moved into their cafeteria, where we quickly grew in both attendance and spiritual impact.
During this time, we established our food pantry ministry to serve the community. This outreach effort led to our first convert, marking a significant milestone in our mission. Our services were initially held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, allowing us to continue worshiping with our mother church, El-Bethel Tabernacle. We maintained this schedule for a year until Bishop Gordon determined it was time for us to go full-time and officially build Connection Pointe Church, previously known as El-Bethel Riverview.
The church experienced many firsts, including welcoming our first visitor in January 2017 and celebrating our first baptism in October 2017. In February 2019, we became a North American Missions (NAM) Church and officially changed our name to Connection Pointe Church. Along with our new identity, we embraced our motto: "Connect with us as we connect with Christ." Our vision has always been to serve as a refuge for the city of Riverview.
From November 2016 to June 2020, our dedicated members worked tirelessly to set up for Sunday services every Saturday evening and tear down every Sunday morning. After years of prayer and perseverance, we secured our own location and held our first official service there on July 5, 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, God’s power moved mightily, and many were baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in Riverview.
As we continued to grow, we recognized the need to expand our sanctuary and began working toward that goal. In February 2024, we appointed our first Associate Pastor, and in March, we launched the Elevate Campaign to pay off our mortgage. By December 2024, through God’s provision and the unwavering support of our church family, we became debt-free.
We are deeply grateful for the guidance and support of Bishop and Lady Gordon, as well as our mother church, El-Bethel Tabernacle. Looking ahead to 2025, our theme is "SOAR," and with faith, unity, and determination, that is exactly what we will do!
